Summer Student Job Opportunities at Polaris
Polaris School and Centre has successfully received funding from the Canada Summer Job Program for two positions, Marketing and Summer Camp Assistant and Administrative Assistant. As per the funding agreement, these positions are open to youth aged 15 to 30 who are eligible to work in Canada (Canadian citizen, permanent resident or person granted refugee status). Note: International students are not eligible. 
1) Administrative Assistant
Full-Time | 8 Weeks | $18/hour | Start Date: May 19th, 2025
Location: Polaris School and Centre


Job Overview:
Polaris School and Centre is seeking a reliable, organized, and enthusiastic Administrative Assistant. This full-time, 8-week position provides a unique opportunity to gain valuable experience in office administration within a vibrant, community-focused educational environment. The Administrative Assistant will play a key role in supporting both the wrap-up of the current school year and preparations for the upcoming academic year, in addition to assisting with summer camp registration and school-related events.


Key Responsibilities:
• Provide clerical and logistical support to the school’s administrative team
• Assist with end-of-year administrative tasks such as organizing records, updating files, and coordinating with staff and families
• Support preparations for the upcoming school year, including supply management and scheduling assistance
• Help manage summer camp registration and provide support to parents and facilitators during the registration process
• Assist with inventory tracking, supply purchasing, and organization
• Participate in special events, class projects, or field trips as needed
• Provide occasional support in the school store, including updating the online platform and organizing seasonal displays
• Contribute to a welcoming, organized environment for staff, students, and families

Ideal Candidate Will:
• Be detail-oriented, organized, and proactive
• Communicate effectively with children, parents, and staff
• Be comfortable using basic office tools such as spreadsheets, email, and online platforms
• Be willing to jump in and assist with a variety of school activities and projects
• Demonstrate reliability, flexibility, and a positive attitude

2) Marketing & Summer Camp Assistant

Location: Polaris School and Centre


Job Overview:
Polaris School and Centre is looking for a creative and motivated Marketing & Summer Camp Assistant to help promote our programs and support the delivery of our outdoor nature summer camps. This full-time, 8-week position is ideal for someone interested in communications, community outreach, and hands-on involvement in nature-based education. Working under the supervision of the Summer Camp Coordinator and School Administrator, you will play a key role in telling our story and enriching the camp experience for children.


Key Responsibilities:
Marketing & Outreach:
• Assist in creating and posting content for social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, etc.) to increase awareness and engagement
• Capture photographs and short videos for use in newsletters, marketing materials, and online promotion
• Interview members of the Polaris community to develop content that highlights the school’s inclusive and vibrant environment
• Participate in community outreach activities and events to promote Polaris School and its unique summer programs
• Support content development for the school website and newsletters

Summer Camp Support:
• Assist the Summer Camp Coordinator with the daily delivery of outdoor nature camps
• Help ensure a smooth and engaging experience for campers by providing hands-on support during camp activities

• Have an interest in education, marketing, nature-based learning, and storytelling
