Mariann Hegedus was first introduced to archery in 2002, while participating in a mounted archery training program in Toronto. She was taught by master Lajos Kassai, who founded and leads a successful mounted archery school in Hungary. For the past few years, she has been sharing her passion for archery with children, teaching them how to use a bow and running archery classes in the Ottawa area. She also helped organize two mounted archery clinics, one in Vars, Ontario in 2017 and the other at the Bay of Fundy, Nova Scotia in 2018, where they had their first mounted archery competition. Beside archery, she has also practiced voltige (gymnastics on horseback) since 2003 and received her Voltige Coach Level 1 Certificate in 2004.
